So I’ve been searching for a workout program that i can fit into my busy schedule, give me amazing results, and one that doesn’t have me starving myself.

I’m pretty sure I found it.  I’ve been waking up early in the morning to workout and up until yesterday, I’ve been winging it…not any more.

Brianna, a personal trainer who lost 100 lbs herself, has developed a program for women who are trying to lose their baby weight and get the body they want back.  I’m still trying to lose the baby weight from lil b…even though she just turned 6:/

Check it out for yourself over at Bikini Body Mommy

I did the fit test today:
Squat Jumps     27
Speed Squats   27
High Knees      100
Burpees           8
Pushups          25 on my knees
Elbow Planks  18 seconds
Lunges            15
Tricep Dips     12

If you decide to join me..keep me posted as to your progress.

So, I did something wild and crazy the other day.

I have been playing around with the idea of joining Leukemia & Lymphoma Socitey team in training.  They are running the IronGirl 1/2 Marathon this Apirl very close to my home.

The fundraising scares me more than running the 13.1 miles.  With a $1500 mimimum commitment, could I really pull this off?  Who knows.

I ran the Maryland 1/2 back in May..and it was a DISASTER.  With limited training ( I sucked at following the training plan), horrible nutrition and SO MANY HILLS…I didn’t do as well as I had hoped when signing up.  Althought I did raise $700 toward the University of Maryland Greenbaum cancer center.

So when I received an email last week informing me that they would waive the $100 registration fee if I signed up by 1/8, I thought, how can I not sign up.  TNT gives you the option to drop out if you feel that you can’t raise the money required or pay the difference.

On Sunday night, I was about to go to sleep, but I picked up my phone and registered.  What do I have to lose, right?

I opted for the flex training.  With mine and PW’s schedules so crazy, I thought it would be best to get in the runs on my own.  I love the idea of having a coach to help me though this training.  Someone to hold me accountable for my runs.  I am very excited to get started!

I started my yoga practice back up..and I couldn’t be happier.  I took a begginer vinyasa class on Saturday..my hamstrings and shoulders feel great/sore (aren’t they the same thing?)  I am headed to a hot vinyasa class this evening at Charm City with Steph…so excited!

I am hoping to use this as a place to track my training and fundraising.  I have started a food journal and i am writing everything that goes in my mouth down :/  I am trying to shed a few lbs for my sister’s wedding in April, or atleast tone up.  Let the chaos begin:)

I officially started training for the Baltimore Running Festival 1/2 Marathon, on Monday.

Since the last 1/2 the only running I have done was a 5k at the end of June.  Due to not training properly, the 1/2 was hard and I cried from mile 8-13.1 due to the pain in my hip flexors.  When I left the race, the only thing running were my thoughts of, “How is this fun?  Who decides to become a runner at 35 years old?”

Well, I do.  I don’t have to be a fast runner.  I don’t ever plan to place in my age group (not until I am 60 and then I’ll take 3rd;)  I don’t have to have an under 2 hr 1/2 PR.  I don’t ever plan to run a marathon…*well not right now anyway*.

What I do have to do this time is follow a training schedule and fuel my body properly so that I can keep my body healthy.

I would like to lose a few lbs.  I would like to increase my endurance.  I would like to find a way to get in the zone.  I would like to finish the 1/2 in October with a smile on my face..or atleast without painful tears.

So, like I said, training started on Monday.

On Monday, I did some stretching, push ups and sit ups.

On Tuesday, I ran 2 miles on the treadmill.  I was suppose to run 3 but that it wasn’t happening on the dreadmill..UGH!

I have the hardest time running on the treadmill…I watch the numbers, I watch the little arrow going around the “track”, my knees hurt, I focus on my feet, on the person in front of me whose pants are falling down on the elliptical, or the girl who is talking on her cell phone next to me…2miles felt like 22…and I was only on it for 22 min…(told you I was a slow runner).

The plan is to do some cross training today.  Possibly some laps in the pool….I have to see if the weather and the kids cooperate:)

I have decided to follow Hal Higdon’s Novice 1/2 marathon training plan..we’ll see how it goes.

So, I am currently training for the Maryland Half in May..and my mileage is slowly increasing.  I was able to get out there and run 4 miles last weekend..YAY!!..and I am going for 5 this weekend.

My very good friend Karen went to Road Runner Sports a few months ago and told me I had to go for the Shoe Dog.  What Shoe Dog does is fetch the best pair of running shoes for you and your running style.

Let me just first say that all of the people who work at RRS are AMAZING.  They really took their time to listen to everything I had to say and make sure I got exactly what my feet, legs, body need in a shoe…

So first, Melissa asked me a few simple questions…Where do I run (outdoor, trail, indoor)?  How many miles a week do I run?  Am I dealing with any injuries at this time?  She plugged this all into the computer and displayed it on a very big screen.

Then Melissa took me over to the balancing board.  I stood there in my bare feet while the board sent important info to the computer.  What it told me was that I have an extremely high arch on my left foot..but my arch on the right foot is so high that I am putting a lot of pressure on my heel.

Now it was time to run on the treadmill at an easy jogging pace.  There is a camera set up to watch the back of my feet.  I set the treadmill at 4.0 and took a nice 20 second jog…What this showed me was that I am a pronator..and it is really bad on my right side.  You should have seen that arch.  She also told me that I should be running in a Stability + shoe..not the Neutral I have been running in for almost a year.

Then they took me over the balance bar and I stepped into these cushy blocks…this is where they take inserts..put them in a little oven thingy and then mold them to my feet.

It was not time to be handed over to Angie..the shoe expert.  I was surprised to find out that they recommend that you go up 1 – 1.5 sizes in your running shoe…giving some room for swelling and movement.  So, even though I was measuring at an 8.5-9..they put me in a 10.

Where they get you..is that they put the customized inserts into the shoes and have to try them on.  The shoes feel AMAZING..and then they hit you with the price of the insert..YIKES!!  The more I thought about it..it was a small price to pay so that I don’t experience anymore injuries…I am having some Achilles issues right now and was told that it may have to do with the wrong shoe.

I walked away purchasing these babies…Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10.

I also picked up one of these.  I have read many recommendations on sports bras for the larger chested women…I am a 38 D..and found many great ones on the Moving Comfort bras.  It has great support and after wearing already for my treadmill run…was so elated that I didn’t have Uniboob…YUCK!!..

RRS has a great VIP program that offers 10% off all merchandise purchased..So, I got all my purchases at a great price and will def go back for more.  I was like a kid in a candy store…I wanted one of everything.

Thank you to RRS..you have just gained a customer for life!!!   And thank you ditty for enduring a day of running stuff!!!

…I am so flippen excited!!!

So, I have been hoping I get to go to FitBloggin 11 and have secretly been saving money so that I could possibly attend in May.  Since I am pretty new…ok..extremely new to blogging and not a creative writer…I thought..FitBloggin is exactly where I want to be.

Then I saw that Monica & Katy are going to be speaking and I knew that I would  sell my children do just about anything to get there.

So, I began to think.  FitBloggin 11 is being held in Baltimore, MD…*it is totally an amazing city (I may be a bit biased since I was born and raised here)..except for the crappy winters..but they could be worse..so I won’t complain…to much anyway…*and since I live here maybe I could offer to volunteer my time  *in hopes to meet these girls that I stalk on a daily basis*.  I emailed Roni, and asked, what could I lose right?  I got a response back and she told me that she appreciated my offer, but if I volunteered I would miss out on all the great session they have to offer.  She was right, but it was a bummer.

A few weeks later, I was on the FitBloggin site dreaming of one day attending such an awesome event checking out the updates that are posted about what to expect, sponsor updates and some cool give-away.  I noticed a post calling for live bloggers….what is a live blogger?  I asked the same question.  So, I looked into it and found that they were looking for people to come to FitBloggin and sit in on sessions and blog..live.  I could totally do this.  I am a pretty decent typer, live in the Baltimore area, and so want to attend…I am totally the person for the job.  I applied.  Now, like every other give-away that I enter…I never get picked…Well not this time baby!  I am a live blogger for Fit Bloggin 2011.

This is totally the best thing that has happened in my blogging life…all 4 months of it!!  The email that I received said that they had so many applicants that they are only having us blog for one session..and then we can attend all the other sessions we would like for that day.  Now, not only to I get to sit in on some awesome session…I will be meeting Monica and Katy!!!  AYAY!!

So, if you are going to FitBloggin 2011..look for me…and if you are not and you want to..head over to FitBloggin and register!!  I’ll be the live blogger who can’t stop smiling!!!

the start of BFL… January 5, 2011

Well:/ I had my 6 year old take my pictures and I am truly hoping that I did not scar him for life…holy cow…literally…How do I look in the mirror every morning and not ….you know what..I refuse to use negative self talk.

I have started Body for Life thanks to everything I have read from Janetha over at Meals and Moves and Monica over at Run Eat Repeat ( I hope that it is okay to mention them,..I talk like I we are old pals…truthfully..I have never met these ladies but am secretly dying to meet them..I mean I am a blogging newbie and they are awsome..go and check them out..no seriously go ahead…just make sure you come back:)…I’ll wait….)

Today was my first real day.  I have been so worried about starting something…I never stick with ANYTHING!!  I had 14 college majors and just recently graduated with an AA.  So..I was going to post some pictures…like Monica did for her start…but when I looked at them..there is no way I am posting those pictures on the internet until I have seen some results and can post slimmer me photos.

So this is what you can pretty much expect for the next 12 weeks…

Breakfast:  2 eggs, 2 turkey sausages, 1 whole wheat tortilla, coffee and water

Snack: Protein shake and water

Lunch: turkey wrap with romaine lettuce and spicy brown mustard…and let me just say that someone at my office stole my spicy brown mustard..and after I announced to the whole office that I knew someone did and that I was not happy…it reappeared…don’t you just love how that works out..oh and I had more water

Snack: apple and almonds and water

Dinner: grilled steak, small baked potato, and steamed veggies (broc and cauliflower) and guess what..more water

Snack:  this was the hardest because I wasn’t hungry and I want to go to bed..but I ate pudding with whey powder in it…and I drank my last bit of water for the day…

No exercise for me tonight.  I didn’t get home until 6:30…after making dinner, playing withthe kids for a bit, reading and getting them ready for bed…it is now 10:30…I plan to hit the gym right after work for some cardio…I am scheduled for a 2 mile run tomorrow.

I am very excited about a new opportunity that has come up…I don’t want to speak to soon but I hope to share some great new very soon!

Good night all..sorry no pics today..they were to scary to post!!

Ready…Set… November 18, 2010

Tomorrow is go time…I’ll get to what I mean in a second

I have to admit that today I ate 2 fun size bags of M&Ms and drank a half of a coke…I am determined to be true to myself and I can’t be accountable if I don’t put it all out there…

For lunch I ate a cheese sandwich…just regular old american cheese on two slices of wheat breat….it was yummy.  I LOVE ALL KINDS OF CHEESE!

When I got home I had to take lil b to get some tights…I have went to 3 different places and no one has ballet pink tights….I guess everyone is wearing ballet pink this holiday…so I found ballet pink tights and this

no…I did not buy my children a rat or a hampster…this is a hair piece that lil b’s dance teacher said she had to have.  I don’t know that many 4-year-old little girls…but when the teacher said their hair had to be in a bun…I thought WHAT???  Have you seen my daughter’s hair..it is thin, and not even shoulder length…how do I make that into a bun???  Get a hair piece  :/

This is the face of a sick little girl…she had a weird cough and right as we stepped into the door of dress rehersal she started with a fever….So we bundled her up…*can you see the hairpiece??*

*note: this is not her costume…that is under wraps until Saturday’s show..you’ll have to check back for pics…*  This is lil b’s coverup.  Most of the little girls wear robes but not lil b…she has to be wrapped in my scarf and one of my sweaters that looks like a dress on her…she is in the 6th number of the show..so right after her dance we bundled up and got into the truck quicker then lightening…

Once home..I got lil b comfy and then started on my dinner..I decided since last Saturday that I needed to try and recreate my grilled teryaki salmon..and tonight was the night.

Yummy piece of salmon, that ditty picked up that the grocery store the other day, marinating in teryaki marinade..

Cut up some veggies…brussel sprouts, onions, broccoli and cauliflower..mixed up with some EVOO, salt and pepper…roast in the oven on 400 degrees for 25 min…

It totally rocked..and it was way better then the Cheeseburger in Paradise meal that I had…This was my first attempt at cooking salmon and I am happy that it worked out!  I paired the fish with roasted veggies and whole grain brown rice.   I have enough to eat for lunch tomorrow..unless ditty eats it first…

So back to what I am gearing up for…I just registered for the Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge..i found this on NherShoes..a blog that I read religiously everyday…I am very excited to get started *it starts tomorrow*…so prepare for lots of food posts and some exercising posts…I better start getting to bed early so that I can wake up early and utilize my onDemand exercise segments…See you all tomorrow!!!
