Enjoying The Chaos

of life…with kids, school, and work

busy busy busy May 6, 2011

I feel like someone has run over me with a truck…on a regular these days

..work has been crazy..school is winding down but all that means is that I am studying non-stop and writing papers…the kids have so many activities going on…and the last thing I want to do when I get home is break out the laptop and put all my chaos out in the world…

…wait…isn’t that why I started a blog….

I think so…

I have a lot going on..like I said….

one day at a time…

I said last weekend I had some plans…

We headed to the farmer’s market…

…where we drank many Raven smoothies…(Blueberry & Pineapple)

Then off to Ferndale Day.  We live close to an area called Ferndale and the local recreational sports teams have a parade and then a fair…

everyone grabbed something to eat…and then we headed to the booth for some face painting..

and ran into some pretty people on the way…

lil b went with the purple fairy face painting..

when I left the booth to use the johnnie-on-the-spot (I am in half marathon training…i am drinking water constantly)…my boys had clean faces..and we all agreed to a small design…so how is it that I leave ditty in charge and this

…is what I come back to.  I had two of them like this…nice huh??  I totally had to apologize to RAC (nathan’s mom) for this one..YIKES!!

They had a great time…but it was back home to take NP back to his momma.  I have another fun-filled weekend planned..starting tomorrow…stay tuned for more fun and running…my half is only a little over a week away…double YIKES!!!

Amazing Race March 13, 2011

This afternoon, I ran the Kelly Shamrock 5k..image

This is us before the race…me, Lori and her husband Jeff, Karen and Nicki.  This was Lore, Jeff and Nicki’s first race ever..and let me just say…all three of them rocked it!!

My plan was to run the whole thing..but that didn’t happen.  I felt that the course was very hilly…and gave myself permission to walk up the hills…all in all I feel that I did great.  I was not incredibly happy with my time…but I am still a work in progess…and right now all that matters to me is that I finish.

The weather was amazing..and I felt a bit overdressed with a long-sleeved shirt on..but in the shade I would have been really cold…so I was glad I wore it.

I was really glad that the race didn’t start until 1:15pm…with the time change I was all out of whack this morning and never could have made it out of bed early to run…Plus the weather was amazing by the time we started.

I felt like a million bucks after the race…but all I wanted was a cheeseburger…

I ran home..grabbed the kids from ditty….and ran to 5 guys…

this is all I could think about from the time I hit the finish line..until I took the first bite…epic fail…it wasn’t that tasty…I only ate half and then threw the rest way…ditty would be so upset with me(sorry!!)

I have such a packed week coming up…two papers due..a midterm due…and then spring break next week…

Yeah…I wish…

I plan to do some much-needed cleaning..catch up on some reading..and get in some running…oh and to spend some much-needed time with ditty the  offspring…

I hope to keep up with posting this week…

Did you ever go anywhere amazing for Spring Break???

11 weeks to go February 24, 2011

So, I have 11 weeks to be in 1/2 marathon shape…am I crazy???  I think so.

I don’t think that I will be ready to run a 1/2 by mid-May, but I am determined to do my best.

I am a week behind due to the kids being sick and being sick myself at the beginning of the week.

I posted my training program a few day back…and according Mr. Higdon..I should be running 3miles with some strength training today…HAHAHAH…<—that is me truly laughing out loud.  I got in 1.78 miles today..but let me tell you…I ran the whole thing..and that is amazing for me.

I went and purchased the Nike+iPod the other day to help me log my runs.  I am hoping that this will motivate me to get moving…

I was going to go to the gym today and hop on a treadmill and run until my legs couldn’t carry me any longer.  The other day i did it, but I think because I was getting sick, I only pulled out 1 mile before dropping.  After I dropped lil b off at school I started thinking that it wasn’t really that cold out, and that if Heather and Ali can run in freezing cold weather, I can’t complain about 48°.   So, I threw on my headband and my gloves and hit the pavement.  It felt amazing!!  With the cold yucky weather we have been having, I have been hiding in the gym..and I forgot how much I love running outside.

I think what got me out there today was starting to read this, Run Like A Mother – How to get Moving and Not Lose Your Family, Job, or Sanity, by Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea.  I am only on the Chapter 3 and have laughed out loud over a dozen time.

Being a mom of two little ones and one big one, I find it difficult to find the time to run.  Mornings are for fighting over what to wear to school, even though KP wears a uniform.  It’s about spilled milk, lunch box filling, book bag grabbing running to the bus stop before the bus leaves at 7:30am when he is supposed to stay there until 7:40am.  After dropping KP off..it onto dropping lil b off at daycare and getting myself to work in time so I can get in at least 36 out of the 40 hours I am supposed to work.  I sit at my desk, surrounded by co-workers that believe that wings, pizza and subs have their own space on the food pyramid and try to get at least 4-5 servings at one sitting, for 10 hours 4 days a week.  It usually feels like my days never end…some days I am lucky enough to be able to head home to say goodbye to ditty as he leaves for work, make dinner, spend some quality time with the little ones, baths, bed, homework….ok, so..there is no energy left after that.  Other days, I have to leave work and head to school to sit in class until 10pm.

When I started running it was a lot easier.  I wasn’t working full-time and I didn’t take it to seriously.  It was April of last year and after seeing that a few friends ran their first 5k, my interest was piqued.  I signed up for my first 5k in June.  Since then I have run 6 5ks and have loved most everyone.  I never did it for time and I never tried to PR in any of them, but this year I am hoping to step up my game.  I plan to put a lot of effort into my training and my 5k time has gone to imporve…but if not…I’ll be okay with that.

I love this book became so far..they know where I am coming from.  Although both authors started running before the age of 34, unlike me..lol, they just understand that sometime you would rather run then put the folded laundry away tonight…or that sometime..if the living room is messy..the world will not come to an end.  If you are a mom..and you love to run..it is a total must read.

I have to thank my friend Karen for giving it to me…alone with a pair of AWESOME socks and an extra tech t she had….I love that I have finally surrounded myself with strong like-minded women!!!  Thanks Kar!!!

Live Blogger February 9, 2011

…I am so flippen excited!!!

So, I have been hoping I get to go to FitBloggin 11 and have secretly been saving money so that I could possibly attend in May.  Since I am pretty new…ok..extremely new to blogging and not a creative writer…I thought..FitBloggin is exactly where I want to be.

Then I saw that Monica & Katy are going to be speaking and I knew that I would  sell my children do just about anything to get there.

So, I began to think.  FitBloggin 11 is being held in Baltimore, MD…*it is totally an amazing city (I may be a bit biased since I was born and raised here)..except for the crappy winters..but they could be worse..so I won’t complain…to much anyway…*and since I live here maybe I could offer to volunteer my time  *in hopes to meet these girls that I stalk on a daily basis*.  I emailed Roni, and asked, what could I lose right?  I got a response back and she told me that she appreciated my offer, but if I volunteered I would miss out on all the great session they have to offer.  She was right, but it was a bummer.

A few weeks later, I was on the FitBloggin site dreaming of one day attending such an awesome event checking out the updates that are posted about what to expect, sponsor updates and some cool give-away.  I noticed a post calling for live bloggers….what is a live blogger?  I asked the same question.  So, I looked into it and found that they were looking for people to come to FitBloggin and sit in on sessions and blog..live.  I could totally do this.  I am a pretty decent typer, live in the Baltimore area, and so want to attend…I am totally the person for the job.  I applied.  Now, like every other give-away that I enter…I never get picked…Well not this time baby!  I am a live blogger for Fit Bloggin 2011.

This is totally the best thing that has happened in my blogging life…all 4 months of it!!  The email that I received said that they had so many applicants that they are only having us blog for one session..and then we can attend all the other sessions we would like for that day.  Now, not only to I get to sit in on some awesome session…I will be meeting Monica and Katy!!!  AYAY!!

So, if you are going to FitBloggin 2011..look for me…and if you are not and you want to..head over to FitBloggin and register!!  I’ll be the live blogger who can’t stop smiling!!!

Super Excited November 15, 2010

This morning I woke up to an amazing email containing our photographs from this weekend’s shoot with the amazing B Chase Photography at the Naval Academy.

I couldn’t have been happier with the way these turned out.  If you interested…click here to check out the rest of the shoot…

Yesterday on the way to church I had a nanna..I know that it is illegal to text while driving but what about photography while driving???

After an amazing service..where I sat with my girls Stephanie and Jenny…which I have to clarify are not OLD.  I mentioned the other night that I am mid-30s and they are older than me…but I just mean by 2-3 years..and they are totally like a fine wine..but I don’t mean in years I mean in how fine they truly are…am I making any sense..lol

Anywhoo…I had leftovers from last night for lunch…the amazing grilled teriyaki salmon…oh so good…my photography skills totally are totally lacking

Last night I got to hang out with my sister, my mom, and lil b in Hampden…oh how I love it in Hampden

*side note: I really need to take some workshops on photography…or atleast read the manual. I have a N65 SLR 35mm, sitting in the closet, that I totally love..but I can’t do the film thing.  I am currently drooling over a few digital SLRs now…maybe for Christmas???  I am currently working with a Cannon Power Shot and I have no idea what I am doing*

We headed down to Crystals, Candlesticks and Cauldrons.  My mother is practicing to become a Reiki Master…she just finished level 2, so we headed down there for some smudge, crystals, and a few hematite rings…

I picked myself up a clarity candle and a St Michael’s medallion to give to my father. ..he only has 8 more radiation treatments!!  YAYA!!!

When we got home, my parents house smelled AMAZING!!  My mother had put a roast into the oven before we left and all of us were starving.  We go to my parents house every Sunday for dinner.  There was a lovely roast with carrots, onions, green peppers in a brown gravy..with mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts on the side…I WAS IN HEAVEN *imagine me singing this*…there are no pictures because I was so hungry by that point that I totally forgot about anything other than dinner:)

Have I mentioned that I have a paper to write??

I headed to bed after Desperate Housewives…

This morning I started my day with a bowl..or should I say a cup of oatmeal..again..no pics:/  I was at work when I ate and God forbid I take a picture of something…holy cow!!!

I did go to Wendy’s for lunch today…how bad am I…side salad and a baked potato…not to bad….

When I got home tonight, Ditty had made dinner…he is a BIG meat-eater and if it has to do with health..he isn’t interested.

Yup, spaghetti with meat sauce..and a nice piece of crusty roasted garlic bread on the side…it was yummy but I left the as much meat in my bowl as possible….I am not a vegetarian but I am really trying to stay away from the red meat.  Since I had some of my mother’s yummy roast last night..I was not ready for 2 nights in a row…

But what I am supper excited about…

This is my first spaghetti squash and my first butternut squash…I have been reading so many blogs lately and everyone is making something with one of these…I need to try it out…wish me luck!!!

WOW…what a recap…I hope everyone has a great evening..I am off to finish writing my paper…wait..have I told you how much I hate writing papers??  just wondering!?!
